California Court webpages
There are several different types of abuse and harassment restraining orders available according to a California Courts webpage on abuse and harassment.
The California Courts has webpages on Domestic Violence, Civil Harassment, Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse, and Gun Violence restraining orders. For each of these types of restraining orders, there may be different specific types of restraining orders available, such as an Emergency Protective Order (EPO), a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO), a “Permanent” Restraining Order, or a Criminal Protective Order or “Stay-Away” Order. The webpages listed above generally have information and links to pages on making safety plans, asking for, responding to, enforcing, renewing, and terminating a restraining order, frequently asked questions (FAQs), necessary forms, and other information.
